Services

Need Assessment:

    • PTSD in Veterans: According to the Veterans Administration, 6% of adults experience PTSD, highlighting a significant demand for affordable or free therapeutic services. Veterans often face barriers to accessing care, including long wait times and high costs, which BHR aims to address through specialized retreats.
    • Domestic Violence Survivors: Many individuals in abusive situations struggle to find immediate assistance due to limited shelter availability and resource constraints. Research indicates that a significant number of domestic violence victims remain with their abuser because they lack access to safe and timely options. Domestic violence shelters frequently operate at or beyond full capacity, resulting in long waiting lists and delayed support. BHR aims to offer a timely and secure alternative by providing immediate access to essential resources and comprehensive support services, enabling survivors to escape abusive situations and embark on their path to recovery. In the future, BHR plans to provide transitional secure housing to ensure continued stability and support for survivors as they rebuild their lives.
    • Children and Youth: Trauma-exposed children and adolescents frequently lack access to specialized services tailored to their unique needs. BHR aims to bridge this gap with targeted support and comprehensive care for these vulnerable populations.
    • At-Risk Animals: The growing number of stray, abused, and aging animals facing euthanasia due to overcrowded shelters underscores the need for dedicated rescue and sanctuary efforts. BHR’s sanctuary model addresses this need by offering rehabilitation and integrating these animals into therapeutic roles.

Programs and Services

Our diverse range of programs and services is designed to support our mission of healing and empowerment through tailored support for both individuals and animals. They include:

    • PTSD Retreats for Veterans and Domestic Violence Survivors: Multi-day retreats focused on emotional healing, relaxation, skill-building, and AAT. These retreats are offered weekly and expand based on demand.
    • Safe Haven for Domestic Violence Victims: 24/7 secure shelter with food, clothing, mental health counseling, and skill development for up to 10 residents at a time.
    • Housing for Young Women Facing Unplanned Pregnancies: Temporary housing with prenatal education, counseling, and skill-building programs for up to 5 women at a time.
    • Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT): Integrated into all our programs to support mental and emotional well-being through interaction with rescue animals.
    • Animal Rescue and Service Animal Placement: BHR rescues stray, abused, and aging animals at risk of euthanasia, rehabilitates them, and provides them with a safe home. We actively seek to partner with local animal shelters to enhance our rescue efforts. These animals will be trained and placed as service animals or therapy companions for clients, fostering mutual healing and support.
    • Sanctuary for At-Risk Animals: BHR provides a long-term sanctuary for animals that are unlikely to be adopted due to age, health, or behavioral issues. These animals will be loved and cared for on the property, where they will live out their lives in a safe and nurturing environment. For animals that are not suited for service placement, they will continue to contribute to the healing atmosphere of the ranch, enriching the lives of all who interact with them.
